This full day course is for the novice forager wishing to learn more about the wonderful world of mushrooms. Fungi are so much more than just a wild food source and we will consider the different families and species we find along with their functions within the different habitats that we cover.
The course is run from a woodland bushcraft basecamp at Colin Godmans farm and the surrounding land. We will be looking for mushrooms, brackets and other types of weird and wonderful fungi that you can hope to find along footpaths, in fields and woodland. We will also show you how to identify key trees and plants that can help in identifying which species you’ve found.
A foraged lunch and refreshments are provided and will be something wild mushroom based and although our focus will not be harvesting for food we will undoubtedly have some edible species to try at the end of the day too.
Habitat covered includes; wetlands, alder carr, pasture and mixed woodland.
